CALLER'S ANGELS DEMO INSTRUCTIONS

How to Use the Demo for Caller’s Angels for Windows

The demo program uses the same graphics and interface as the complete version of Caller’s Angels. The purpose of the demo is to ensure that Caller’s Angels will work on your system and give you an idea of what it does. To use the demo, do the following:

  1. Unzip the attachment "DemoCA.zip" into an empty folder.
  2. You should have 10 files once they are unzipped in the new folder.
  3. To start the Caller’s Angels Demo program double click on the file "Cademo.exe"
  4. You should now be running a demo version of Caller’s Angels. This demo version has a subset of the full program’s functions. The full program has all the calls through the A-2 level (including numerous All-4-Couples and All-8 calls). The demo version does not include the help documentation.
  5. To watch a short demo of the program, mouse the Help menu and choose Demo.
  6. You can stop the demo at any time by mousing on the dance floor or the choreo list.
  7. When the demo is finished, press the "down-arrow" key several times and watch the dancers do some calls. Press the "up-arrow" key several times to watch the dancers "undo" the call. Press the "down-arrow" key several times again and watch the dancers "redo" the last calls they undid.
  8. Enter a few call of your own and watch the animation. First use the File: New menu command to open a new choreo window. The demo program has twelve calls and three commands to initialize the dancers to common "zero" formations. The calls and their abbreviations are:
Allemande-Left (AL)
Grand-Square (GS)
Make-A-Wave (MAW)
Pass-The-Ocean (PTO)
Pass-Thru (PT)
Promenade (PR)
Promenade-Home (PRH)
Recycle (REC)
Relay-The Deucey (RTD)
Right-And-Left-Grand (RALG)
Star-Thru (ST)
Trade-By (TB)
Zero-Box (ZB)
Zero-Lines (ZL)
Zero-Square (ZS)

For example, from a static square, to have the head couple do a Star-Thru, enter H ST (be sure to leave a space between the "H" and "ST"). Then have the centers Pass-Thru by entering C PT. Then, for fun, enter RTD and mouse the Animation: Show Path menu command. If you don’t want to use abbreviations, use the View: Pick List menu command to display a pick list of the calls. Also, use the Tools: Move To Formation menu command to move to different formations. As you mouse a menu command, one line of information about the command is provided in the status bar at the bottom of the window.

To exit the program, use the File: Exit command.
