OUTPUT CAPACITOR MODIFICATION
This modification places two 2500 ufd. capacitors back to back in series with the output line to prevent possible speaker damage should an output board have a catastrophic failure.
Remove the amplifier from the case as follows: Slide a screwdriver under the chrome handle cover and snap it off, exposing the two screws that hold the handle in place. Remove these screws. On the opposite side of the unit, locate the two rubber feet. Remove the screws that hold these feet in place.
Make sure the tone arm is locked in it's clip. Lift out the platter, and set it aside. Slide the chassis out of the case, depressing the reset button to clear the case as the chassis slides out.
Turn the unit bottom side up on a soft pad and orient it so that the front panel is nearest you and the speaker jacks are farthest away from you. Remove the heat plate (4 screws on each side).
Some sets have two sets of fuses mounted on each side of the strobe mirror. If your set is so equipped, splice or rewire to remove them from the circuit and pull the fuse blocks from the set.
Remove the two nuts that hold the mirror in place. Mount the new mounting plate over the back of the mirror and replace the nuts. Remove the backing from the double sided tape and mount the capacitors as follows: The two caps. on the left side should be mounted with the + ends to the front of the set. The two caps. on the right side should be mounted with the + ends to the back of the amp. Connect the negative ends (usually not marked) together in pairs.

Remove the two blue wires (same contact) from the plug on the main amp. board (left side) and connect them to point 1 (see diagram). Connect a new wire from the plug contact emptied above and connect the other end to point 2 shown on diagram.
Locate the blue wire going from the monitor amp (right side) to the output socket. Cut this wire about 2 1/2" from the plug, be sure it is long enough to reach, connect it to point 4. Splice and insulate a new wire to the other end of the cut and connect the other end to point 3.
