INSTALLING EQUALIZER JACKS IN MICRO-100
Installing an equalizer jack in your amplifier could reduce the resale value of your unit. Hilton Audio Products will not accept for trade-in a unit that has been so modified. You must be familiar with proper soldering techniques.
REMOVING THE AMPLIFIER FROM THE CASE
Slide a screwdriver under the chrome handle cover and snap it off, exposing the two screws which hold the handle in place. Remove these screws. On the opposite side of the unit, locate the rwo rubber feet. Remove the screws that hold these two feet in place.
Before removing the amplifier from the case take off the platter and set it off to the side. Also, make sure the tone arm is locked in its clip. The entire unit will now slide out of the carrying case.
INSTALLING EQUALIZER JACK
A 3/8" jack mounting hole must be drilled in the top deck above the ”MUSIC IN” control. It should be ½" from the left side and in line with the screw head for the detent spring. There is not a lot of room so it may be necessary to enlarge the hole slightly to allow the jack to sit in straight. Rotate the jack so that the side with no solder lugs is nearest the heat sink.
Turn the set upside down with the controls towards you. Refer to the diagram below. Place a small jumper wire from (X) to ring of the jack. Locate the music volume control (compentrol). It has three wires attached in a line. Remove the wire that is clockwise from the others (usually green). Using the supplied twin shielded cable. Splice one center wire to this wire and run it to the tip solder lug. Run a second wire from the ring solder lug to the empty lug on the control. The shield on the control end is connected to the solder lug on the counter clockwise end. And to the ground lug on the jack end.
